| In
order to comply with the new 2007
Daylight Saving Time rules, Microsoft issued a downloadable
patch
to fix Windows XP SP2. They also set the patch to install automatically
with Windows Updates.
Microsoft
also issued a program, TZMove,
which is used to fix calendar entries to comply with the new rules.
Unfortunately, a bug was discovered in TZMove. This bug causes
Outlook calendar entries that were created after the patch was
installed to be "fixed" even though they are already
correct. This only happens to single-instance (i.e. non-recurring)
calendar entries, if they occur in the three week period
beginning March 11th or the week ending November 4th, 2007.
There
is now a hotfix
to fix TZMove, but that doesn't help if it was already run.
If you think you might be affected, carefully
review your calendar entries for the three weeks beginning March
11th and correct the ones that were improperly "fixed".
Note that, in
most cases, this problem does not affect Windows 2000 or Windows
XP SP1. Nor does it affect you if you do not use Outlook Calendaring.
It also doesn't affect you if you installed the patch and then
immediately ran TZMove.
